The Castro Theatre in San Francisco was the place to be November 17-23, 2004, in honor of Godzilla's 50th birthday The best Godzilla Film Fest we have known about took place there. This is the 16 page program book from the event sponsored by Bay Area Film Events which showed 20 Godzilla or Kaiju Films.
The special guests were great:Russ Tamblyn (the first ever appearance in regard to War of the Gargantuas), Hiroshi Koizumi who was in Godzilla Raids Again, and many other Godzilla movies (he reprised his role in Mothra 1961 42 years later in Tokyo Sos), Tsutomu Kitagawa (the latest actor to don the Godzilla suit), Jerry Ito best remembered for his role of the vile Clark Nelson in Mothra 1961), Akira Kubo played many roles in Toho Films including Matago, Gorath, Son of Godzilla, Destroy All Monsters.
There are biographies of all the guests in the program. Also every film shown is given several paragraphs of synopsis and commentary by August Ragone of Henshin! Online. The center page has photos from some of the Godzilla Movies. The cover illustration is Mark Nagata.

A wonderful book produced by Moby Dick and released for the premiere in Japan of Godzilla Millennium in 1999. This is a 112 page book of post cards depicting artwork by two of Japan's most talented and prolific artists Kaida, Yuji and Orai, Noriyoshi. Their dramatic renditions of Giant Monsters aka Kaiju appeared as movie posters, books, product artwork, and paintings. This book is printed on heavy stock and comes in a slipcase. This book is new however due to its being printed 17 years ago some of the post cards have loosened the perforations.
This is the impressive book written by Yuji Nishimura and Takashi Kuragi detailing the history of Godzilla Toys in not only Japan but the world. This superb book serves as the go to reference for the earliest vinyl, tin and plastic model toys of the KING of THE MONSTERS and his associated friends and foes. The history of Bullmark and Marusan is displayed in fabulous comparison photos of the same figure produced by each company. The other historic companies such as Popy the precursor to Bandai and also the toys made by Yamakatsu Company are given good coverage. Yuji Nishimura the owner of M 1 Toys aka M Ichigo bought many of the original molds of the Bullmark soft vinyl line. This 111 page book is a must have for all collectors of Godzilla.

This is another Must Have book which is an incredible companion to not only the latest in the Japanese Godzilla franchise but the entire Godzilla film series. It is called Shin Godzilla Walker in part because it follows the routes of not only Shin Godzilla through the Tokyo landscape, but it has disaster hazard maps of the 1954 Godzilla, 1984 Godzilla and 1995 Godzilla. This book covers so much from the earliest photos of the 1954 Godzilla maquette to the amazing final models of Shin Godzilla. All the important personnel from 1954 to the present are given some coverage (in Japanese) and many many photos of all aspect of film production. This book is published by Kadokawa and is 121 pages.

For all you fans of the Actresses of Toho Studios here is a GREAT soft cover book published in 2010. Most of the Actresses were seen in Toho's Monster movies such as the Godzilla series, the Mothra series, The War of the Gargantuas, The Invisible Man, Matango in addition to some of their historical dramas, gangster films or other special effects movies. The book spans the years 1954-2004. T here are wonderful behind the scenes photos as well as publicity shots and action photos from the movies. Some of the incredibly talented women included in this book are Kumi Mizuno, Miki Sanjo, Akemi Negishi, Yuriko Hoshi, Mie Hama, Akiko Wakabayashi, Yukiko Kobayashi and Megumi Odaka. There are many others not listed.

It is full of fabulous photos of the actresses from 1954-2004 who played memorable parts in Toho's Special Effects (Tokusatsu) Films. The actresses Hama, Mie and Wakabayashi, Akiko who also appeared in one of our favorite James Bond movies "You Only Live Twice," which was set in Japan are honored in this book. The book is 160 pages of historic photos and text (in Japanese). There are 27 actresses given several pages of coverage. An incredibly priced collector's item DVD and magazine produced by Deagostini Company Japan continues its biweekly series with The Submersion of Japan aka Japan Sinks; aka Tidal Wave which featured Godzilla suit actor Haruo Nakajima in a small non suit role as the prime minister's chauffeur. This original Japanese version contains the entire 140 minute film. The American verion only ran 90 minutes.
This movie is HARD to FIND outside of Japan so here is your chance to see Japan's answer to IRWIN ALLEN's Catastrophe movies of the 1970's. There are some AMAZING behind the scenes photos in the magazine.
These DVDs are beautiful prints of the complete Japanese Theatrical release of the movie. This book has over 360 pages and contains 250 black & white and a few color photos of Haruo Nakajima from his youth up through his long and colorful career in the Toho and Tsurabaya Studios including a baby picture. It also contains his memories of working with Honda, Kurosawa, and Mifune. This is a wonderful piece of Godzilla and Kaiju HISTORY!
There are photos of Nakajima-san on different movie sets and between takes as Godzilla. The book has photos of his work at Tsuburaya productions as Jirass, Gomes and other Ultra Monsters. It has shots of him working on the set of the 1965 "Frankenstien Conquers the World" where he worked to bring BARAGON to life, including a photo of Nick Adams on the set with Nakajima-san as BARAGON. It is hard to pick out a favorite, but Tom & Diane really like the photo taken between shots on "GODZILLA'S REVENGE" that shows Godzilla, Gabera and Minya with the talent inside half way out of the Monster Suits!

It is a FUN and USEFUL reference for seeing all the Kiaju vinyl action toys produced during the period.

The movie opened in Japan on July 26, 2008. The program is done in Japanese retro 60's style. The front and back covers resemble kids' books from that period with a place for a record inserted in the back cover. The "record" for the program is done in cardboard and is a promotion for the soundtrack by the band Cosmic Mind.
The interior photos and graphics recall artwork from the late 1960's. There is a wonderful drawing of Guilala revealing his internal organs and their process! A diagram of the soundstage during filming of the movie pays subtle homage to Godzilla. It shows Guilala and the film director doing the Godzilla dance made popular in Godzilla vs Monster Zero!
The program is 17 pages all in color! There is a center fold out that can be seen by gently opening the perforation along the edge. The artwork is awesome! Also contains photos of the theater exclusive and other merchandise produced for the movie.
The dimensions of the program are 8 1/2 inches by 8 inches. Guilala Returns! That loveable Monster X from 1967 has been brought back in Guilala Stikes Back/G8 Summit Attack! The movie by Shochiku Company the same Producers of the 1967 movie was written and directed by Minoru Kawaski. He is an independent director with a definite taste for comedy. Without giving out too much of the movie story, we can say that it brings a new twist to the Daikaiju Genre.
Guilala attacks during the G-8 Summit and the world leaders respond with methods for combat that reflect their cultural beliefs. Kawasaki handles this with hilarious satire.

There are lots of photos from the movie including a wonderful drawing of Gulala from the inside showing all his internal workings.
